    exquisite French late 19th century
    Christofle
    silver plated tea set includes a teapot and a sugar bowl, both showing
    Art Nouveau
    influences in their design. The handles of both pieces are magnificently designed in the shape of climbing plants ending in leaves and flowers attaching them to the body of each piece. The handle of the teapot has two small oval shaped isolators. The feet are also crafted in curling vine shapes and adorned with beads and resting on stylized leaves. The flower shaped finials on each lid are in full relief and are attached to branches with leaves and buds. The lovely spout of the teapot features a shape resembling gingko leaves. The main body of each piece is covered in “
    guillochis
    ” work bordered with both spiral patterned and plain bands. Both pieces are engraved on each side with medallions monogrammed with the interlaced initials “C” and “B”. The interior of the sugar bowl and the underside of its lid are gilded. The bottom of each piece bears the makers’ marks of the famous
    Orfèvrerie
    Christofle
    : the name “
    Christofle
    ” written in block letters contained in a rectangle and the initials “C.C.” (
    Charles
    Christofle
    ) surrounding the images of a scale and a bee surmounted by four stars. The bottoms are numbered: “

    ” for the teapot and “
    1328150
    ” for the sugar bowl. They are also marked with the silver content, “27” for the teapot and “26” for the sugar bowl. These two pieces are in excellent condition with the exception of faint scratches, a beautiful aged patina and tiny cracks on the
    isolaters
