Description
Being offered is a very handsome 1870's Meriden Britannia Co. aesthetic teapot #1877. It has engraved ferns and flowers front and back, applied lion head medallions on the geometric handle, spout and legs, a Maltese cross finial & engravings, bone insulators and paw feet. I'll let the pictures show the details.Condition is very, very good especially for the age of the item. Plating is excellent, with the exception of one small wear spot on the lid near the hinge (shown). The rest is bright and shiny. No dents or dings.
inside is super clean and free of residue.
Pot measures 7 1/2" to top of spout, 10" to top of finial, 10" spout to handle.
I am told that the identical pot is in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
I am listing a coffee pot, tea pot and a covered sugar bowl in this pattern (shown). All in similar, great condition.
This will come beautifully polished and ready for the holidays. Beware of plated items listed as tarnished and
will leave it up to buyer to polish. Tarnish can hide many flaws such as plating loss and other damage.
Good luck and thanks for looking
