We offer for your consideration this large Victorian Era tilting style tea pot.This teapot was manufactured by The George Richmond Collis & Company of Birmingham, England.
G.R. Collis's operation started in 1835 to 1888, and were early pioneers of the new electroplating technology of the time.
The silverplate stamps found on the bottom of this teapot date to around 1837.
This teapot is approximately 13 inches tall from the top of the handle to the base. The base is approximately 5 3/8ths in diameter.
The widest part of the teapot is approximately 8 3/4 inches in diameter.
The lid rim is approximately 4 3/4 inches in diameter.
The teapot decoration is repousse, segmented, with segments looking like a pillow pattern with alternating segments with leaf and line work. At the bottom of each segment there is a cluster of leafs.
The weight of this teapot is approximately 3 lbs.
Unfortunately this teapot came to us without the base.
It is a large, impressive teapot, and will stand out on any side table. If you are a collector of antique/Victorian silverplate pieces, this G.R. Collis & Co. teapot will be a very nice addition to your collection.
