ART NOUVEAU FORBES SILVER COMPANY SILVER PLATED 5 PC SERVICE C: 1890

Description

We are offering for your consideration an exquisite, Art Nouveau Period, five piece, tea and coffee service manufactured in Meriden, Connecticut by the Forbes Silver company, a department of the Meriden Britannia Company. Forbes was organized in 1890. An early pattern number, “215” is noted on the bottoms as well as the notation the pieces are, “Quadruple Plate.” Each piece measures the following:
***Hinged Coffee Pot measures 9.25 inches high and 9.25 inches from handle to spout.
***Hinged Teapot measures 8.50 inches high and 9.25 inches from handle to spout.
***Covered Sugar Bowl measures 6.25 inches high and 6.25 inches from handle to handle.
***Creamer measures 4 inches high and 5.25 inches from handle to spout.
***Waste Bowl measures 4 inches high and 6.25 inches from handle to handle.
The urn shaped pieces sit upon a pedestal base with a striking ruffled edge. The sweeping and curved handles and spouts are decorated with Acanthus leaves and a swag of flowers growing along a leafy stem. A swag of various leaves has been added to the front and back of each piece just below the top rim that has a ruffled edge. A topiary style finial tops the domed covers of this exquisite service.
The set is in
EXCELLENT READY TO USE ESTATE CONDITION
for its age. The coffee pot cover has a few very light polishing marks and a minuscule ping on one side. The pots have staining on the inside but no rust or corrosion. Nothing that would not be considered age appropriate given the pieces are 132 plus years old. The outsides have a mirror like shine with no major silver wear, repairs or large dents. A treasured service that will add a touch of elegance at those holiday or special dinners with family and friends.
