    Description

    Vintage Silver Plated Tea Pot with Lid
    The tea pot has a lid with perforated holes on one side when loose tea leaves are being used. Turn it to the opposite side and there is a cutout for pouring when tea bags are inside. The handle is covered with pseudo plastic raffia. Bottom is stamped International Silver Co. The pot is made in the style known as "Guernsey" milk jugs. The traditional design is based on French milk jugs going back about a thousand years. Originally the jugs were made by craftsmen who cut segments from flat copper sheet, hammered them to a curved shape and formed lock-seamed edges to build the can. The vintage pot makes a wonderful teapot or the original purpose, a milk jug or pitcher.
