    Description

Victorian 1877 Meriden B-Company Silver Teapot with German Cross and Lions.
Beautiful Antique Silverplated Meriden Britannia Company Teapot highly decorated with lion faces and an Iron Cross (German or Maltese style cross) as the lid handle. The four stands of the teapot are fashioned as Lion paws, with each leg repeating the motif of a lion’s face with tongue out in a circular medallion and a vertical cascade floral arrangement with ribbon flowing beneath. The same motif is repeated on the handle. The body of the teapot has a tiny delicate fishtail-style pattern, and on one sided is etched a plaque ready for your very own initials to be etched into! Bottom of pot reads: ‘Patent Applied For Meriden B-Company 1877 6’. The inside has a built-in strainer at the base of the neck for straining loose tea leaves. Needs a little polish to look brand new or keep the antique finish, as is. Never used by me personally but presumably by many owners over its 145 year old existence! Excellent addition to a silver tea set. Tea cup in picture not included.
